Pigmentation

skin laxity in middle age woman

Pigmentation occurs when the skin produces more melanin than normal, which then pigments the skin in spots, or patches on the surrounding areas. Pigmentation is a well known skin condition that affects all skin types. We see skin pigmentation all the way from melasma and sun spots, to after an injury caused by skin inflammation, from cuts, burns, and acne. There are many ways we can avoid Pigmentation to the skin! Avoid exposure to the sun. Use a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to protect the skin and stop hyperpigmentation from becoming darker. To prevent hyperpigmentation from forming after an injury, avoid picking at spots, scabs, and acne. We can also tackle pigmentation topically! Using retinoids, vitamin c, and hydroquinone, we are able to lighten the skin. At lasair we tackle hyperpigmentation very effectively using both methods.
