When assessing skin types during consultation there are quite a few factors to take into consideration. Some of our most common factors we see are: aging and volume loss/elasticity. These concerns can range from mild, moderate to severe and everyone’s skin is very unique in its own way. Due to everyone’s skin not being the same , it is important to explore different options of treatments that would best be suited for your skin.

At lasair we offer a wide variety of treatments as there is never a “one size fits all” treatment for aging. Here are some example of treatments that would be best suited for mature/aging skin and what concerns they would help to correct/improve:

Skin resurfacing : Neogen PSR and Plexr Plus

Skin resurfacing treatments are a fantastic treatment for any type of aging skin as it works on the building blocks of the skin. This is important as a preventative/corrective measure as our elastin and collagen sit deep in the dermal layer. When treated with a skin resurfacing treatment we are working from the inside out to create a more firm, structured foundation. The foundation of the skin needs to be a top priority when creating a treatment plan as desired results will not be met if we are treating solely on the surface level of the skin.

Neogen PSR works by inducing deep thermal injury through plasma to induce collagen remodelling. Starting at the age of 25 our body slows down the process of collagen stimulation. Throughout the years this process continues to decrease and this is where we see the signs of aging. Therefore, we need to help our body by increasing and re-introducing collagen to create a more structured skin that will be less visible of volume loss.

Injectables: Sculptra, Dermal filler and Neurotoxins

When we are talking injectables there are many different options that will show effective results for aging. For more instant and immediate results the best treatments for this would be dermal filler and dysport.

Dermal filler is used to restore volume in areas of depression such as: cheeks, jawline, temple, etc. When volume loss is noticeable it tends to be seen more around the mouth area. We do not want to inject where we are seeing volume loss but where volume loss has happened to help pull the skin laterally.

Neurotoxins (Botox, dysport, Xeomin) work by paralyzing the muscles it’s injected into. Areas where we have alot of expression eventually loss more collagen and elastin and fine lines to deep wrinkles start to appear. This will effectively be treated with neurotoxins where results are seen up to 14 days post treatment.

Sculptra is a fantastic treatment for clients who do not want to go the filler route and are ready to be patient to see results. The product is formed of Poly-L-lactic acid, when injected the body forms around the small microscopic particles and form your own collagen. Like resurfacing treatments it takes time for the body to heal and build.
